Police in Kisoro have arrested a woman for beating her step son to near death.

The four-year-old pupil at Bright Valley Junior Pre and Primary School in Kisoro District is currently nursing wounds after being badly beaten.

The victim whose identity has been concealed  was reportedly assaulted by her stepmother, Charity Ninshaba, a resident of Central Division in Kisoro Municipality.

According to Moira Kampire, the Kisoro District Probation Officer, the incident took place on Tuesday and has been formally reported at Kisoro Central Police Station.

Kampire expressed concern over the child's condition, noting that he is currently unable to stand on his own. She urged parents to exercise caution when entrusting their children to relatives and admonished guardians with cruel intentions to reconsider their actions and exhibit compassion.

Pasita Ngabirano, the head teacher of Bright Valley Junior Pre and Primary School, disclosed that they became aware of the assaults on Tuesday when Twinomujuni displayed abnormal behavior.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Twinomujuni had been subjected to repeated abuse by her stepmother, Ninshaba.

By press time, the suspect had been arrested at Kisoro central police station .
